Falling Over Me - A Nemi/Nelena Story - Part 1

It was quiet in the library. Too quiet. Selena looked behind her shoulder and saw Nick and Demi. He smiled. Selena blushed, smiled, and quickly turned back to her homework she was working on.
Demi- "Who are you smiling at?"
Nick- "Um, I'm not sure."
Demi-"Anyway are you ready to go soon? It's already raining."
Nick- "Uh, yeah. Hold on. I'll be right back."
Nick starts to walk over to the girl who was looking at him, but she was gone.

The next day it continued to rain. Selena was in Science class hoping the bell would ring soon. She stared at the clock. It felt like hours. All she could think about was Nick. She couldn't get him off her mind. She liked Nick since 2nd grade, but could never tell him how she felt about him. Would he feel the same way? What if he laughed? Questions ran through Selena's mind. Finally, the bell rang and the students were dismissed.

As she made her way through the door she bumped into someone and her glasses fell off.
Nick- "I think these belong to you." He picked up Selena's glasses and handed them to her.
Selena - "Thank you, Nick." She took them from him.
Nick- "You're welcome, Selena." He felt someone's hand touch his shoulder. It was Demi.
Demi- "Hey Nick. It's Friday. Do you know what that means?"
Nick- "The weekend?"
Demi- "Not just the weekend. Tomorrow is the Halloween Carnival. You're coming right?
Nick- "Um..."
Demi- "You have to come. Promise?" She smiled at him.
Nick- "Alright. Promise." He couldn't help but smile back at her. As Demi turned to leave Nick thought about asking Selena if she wanted to come to the Halloween Carnival. When Nick turned around she was gone again. Nick sighed. Where could she be?

Selena stared at the ocean as she wrote some lyrics for a song she was working on. The beach she was at was like her own private beach. No one else knew about it, but her. At least, that's what she thought. It was so peaceful as she listened to the waves crash to the floor and the sand flow through her fingers. She closed her eyes and dreamed about someone singing. The voice was very soulful and sounded so realistic. So close. She could also hear a guitar in the background. She opened her eyes and to her surprise there was Nick sitting on a rock playing his guitar and singing. Selena watched him until he finished the last few verses of the song. She started clapping for him.

Nick turned around surprised.
Nick- "Thanks."
Selena- "That was amazing."
Nick- "Really? Thank you."
Selena- "Your welcome."
Nick- "I didn't know you knew about this beach."
Selena- "I didn't think you knew about it either."
Nick- "I like to come hear and sing and play the guitar. It's relaxing."
Selena- "I come hear to write songs and dream. It's very peaceful here. Not many people know about it."
Nick- "I think we're the only people who know about it. You said you write songs?"
Selena- "Yeah, do you?"
Nick- "Of course. Songwriting is one of my hobbies. I write songs to let my feeling out."
Selena- "You also play the guitar?"
Nick-"Yeah. I used to actually teach lessons."
Selena- "Do you think you could teach me?" Selena always wanted to learn how to play the guitar and she just got one for her birthday so this was perfect.
Nick- "I'd love to teach you." He got down from the rock and sat next to Selena in the sand. "Do you have a guitar?"
Selena- "Yeah, but it's at home."
Nick- "No problem. You can use mine." He handed his guitar to Selena and showed her a few chords. She began strumming away.
Nick- "You're a natural."
Selena- "You really think so?" Some of her hair fell in front of her face. Nick pushed it behind her ear. "I know so." He remembered something he wanted to tell Selena. "Do you want to come to the Halloween Festival with me?"

Selena couldn't believe it! She started smiling really big. "I'd love to come to the Halloween Festival with you Nick."
He smiled back at her. "Good."
Selena - "What's the name of the song you wrote? It's amazing."
Nick - "It's called "Give Love A Try." I wrote it about someone special."
Selena - "Me?" she said softly.
Nick - "Yes, " He didn't quite hear her. "Demi."
Selena - "Oh." She started to feel a little sad. "I got to go." She started walking away.
Nick - "Selena, wait up!" But she was already gone.
