Roush Technologies showed its latest bi-fuel Internal Combustion Engine conversion (H2ICE) technology at the Cenex hosted UK National Low Carbon Vehicle event at Millbrook Proving Ground yesterday. Roush has modified the engine of a Ford Transit-based vehicle to operate using compressed
hydrogen gas fuel, but it can also operate from its existing petrol
fuelled system without any adverse effects
@MsPhysics22100 " What you are suggesting is basically producing a perpetual motion machine."
I have seen a few machines here on You Tube that appear to be perpetual ! Doubt you would blow a V8 off with any of the perpetual motion machines ! Im not suggesting a perpetual motion machine. Rechargeable batteries would have to be included . You would have to get the flow of hydrogen production down to a fine art to the combustion chamber ,burn hydrogen for energy There is no free ride !

@2karriizman actually it would take way to much energy to convert it into hydrogen. Remember basic physics it always takes more energy in then it will put out. What you are suggesting is basically producing a perpetual motion machine.

BMW Hydrogen 7 .. Nasa tested it 8 weeks... it passed...
Same gasoline burning iternal combustion engine running on 100% hydrogen from a liquid hydrogen tank. Welcome to the hydrogen fuel age ppl
ps, hydrogen is 130 octane, burns 9x faster then gasoline, its only exaust is water.
Pure, 100% recycleable water. :-)

It would make for a much safer fuel if all you had to do was fill your tank with water and make on board hydrogen .At this point in time every one seems to be obsessed with making large volumes of hydrogen and storing it so as to sell it.Watts so complex in making just the right amount of hydrogen for each intake stroke of an internal combustion engine as you go??Ill tell ya no money in it for the energy and fuel companies.

GM, Ford and Dodge used to offer an option for the light trucks and vans that was 18 percent hydrogen. It is better known as LPG or propane & LPG has an octane of 105 and burns twice as fast as gasoline. Read the LPG articles i have written on the net by doing both a google and a yahoo search like this PROPANE,MARK SMYTH remember there is no space after the coma and a space after my first name. There are about 25 articles i have written published around the world after i used LPG for 20 years

Actually, Ford has had this technology for longer than BMW. They just refused to put it in cars because of external pressure by the big oil companies. Now that there is a big push to get away from oil, it has allowed them to move forward without worry or problems.

So? Setup a solar power plant and use its output to split hydrogen from water. With enough people using hydrogen it would pay for itself in no time even if you sold hydrogen at $1 per gallon.

BMW has been doing this for years, they even sell a hydrogen 7 that can run off gasoline or hydrogen... nothing new, but good to see more companies doing this because electric and fuel cell is just crap.
BMW is using liquid hydrogen, which is much better then gas form hydrogen, which is what most companies are experimenting with.

But where doers the hydrogen come from, from water, from existing fuels using a reformer?
