Here we have a Rowe R-86 jukebox in perfect working order.
Fully tested and fully loaded with 45's, this Rowe jukebox was in daily, commercial service until May of 2011. It has a 1 and 5 dollar bill acceptor, and a working coin mechanism with coin bag. Cabinet Lock/Key is included, but you will need a coin-door lockset. The singles include the usual classic artists as well as dozens of modern ones such as Maroon 5, Incubus, Lenny Kravitz, Hoobastank, Outkast, POD, and many more.

I have done a considerable amount of work and upgrades:

- New capacitors in the amplifier circuitry for "like new" sound quality
- Cleaned switches and potentiometers in the amplifier and light controller
- New stylus (needle), adjusted tracking force
- All new lamps in the Sound-to-Light marquee
- New "upper" speakers - German-made, high efficiency coaxial speakers with a carbon fiber cone and 1/2" dome tweeter. Huge improvement in clarity.
- Replacement sound damping material in bass cabinet - tightened up the bass response.

  • Let me know if you find another PA speaker since they are much better than car stereo speakers...I have been messing with putting a amp from a CD Rowe jukebox into this box..It dose plug in but the plugs are in the wrong spots & would have to clip wire ties but was able to try it with the amp upside down but it didn't have enough gain & I need to fix the amps i have as each one has a bad channel :-(

  • @pinballdan The speaker is an IC Audio CH x 30-165/8 sold by "ji553r" on eBay. I contacted the seller to request selling them again. He obliged and has some for sale again. However, he has increased the price. So, I did a Google search on the model number and found another seller "dcnewb" getting about $20 shipped for a pair. Enjoy!

  • Don't you still have one of the jukeboxes that has them in it to look at?

  • @pinballdan Nope - just the one. I should have bought the others while I had the chance. The speakers in the remaining one are in much better shape - not floppy and damaged/wrinkled. I'll just keep looking for efficient 8 ohm speakers in the meantime.

  • Mine WAS blue at one point..I sanded a spot & the blue showed up..What MODEL speakers did you use for the new mids & highs??!

  • @pinballdan I bought them from a seller on eBay. He's not selling them at the moment, though, and I can't remember the model number. They were designed for PA use, so they were much more efficient than car speakers and they were 8 ohms so it wouldn't stress the amplifier. If he responds to my request for more speakers, I'll let you know.

  • Thanks for the info on the speakers!

  • @pinballdan Both of mine were painted black. I took a paint chip sample from the one I kept - it was never blue! I'll probably paint mine as the black just looks terrible.

  • Yea..Keep that other one! I just FINALLY got one of these! This model is hard to find these days & it's the best looking model they ever did.Someone painted the door & sides black on mine(YUK!) So yea someday I will have to redo it back to original as i can...Give me the model of those upgrade speakers!! great idea!

  • @Paulywint Thanks - I sold this one to a local guy. He and his wife spent a good hour listening to a bunch of selections. They were just blown away at the quality of sound and the pretty nice selection of modern and classic hits. I still have one more and will be keeping it. I wasn't really a jukebox collector before, but I think I just might have to get a few more. They're certainly cheap enough!
