Now that a month has passed by Joe and I have grown close. So close, that I'm afraid to let go. One month, and I've realized how perfect he is. He holds the door open for me when I get into the car, and when I had a freak out Wednesday, he calmed me down. Abby's the ONLY one who's been known to be able to do that. And it took her at least three times to conquer it. It took him once. ONCE. C'mon!
He's like a bag of caramels, Once you have a piece, you can't get enough. And I mean to say that in the least.. weird, gross way possible.
Unfortunately, Abby still doesn't know. I'm amazed I've been able to keep it quiet for this long. I feel horrible. It's like I love being with Joe, but when I'm with him, this guilt just pours over me.
"You want to meet under the bridge?" Joe asked in iChat. I was hiding out in the bathroom with my computer on my lap. Suddenly the bathroom felt like a normal place for me.
"Yeah" I smiled at his tired face. He hadn't shaved, and his short hair looked like he jumped out of bed just to see me. Heh. A girl can dream, can't she?
He smiled back. He seemed happy to see me. So, I'm kinda loving this.
"So, ten minutes?" he smiled and raised his eyebrows.
"Yeah" I smiled back, waved, and closed my computer.
As I opened the door Abby stood in my path. I jumped.
"What are you doing. In the bathroom. With your computer...?" Abby asked demandingly.
"Uh, um I-" she cut me off.
"I heard you talking?" there was a pause. "What's up, Peyton?" she asked curiously.
I tried to talk. I did. It just, wouldn't come out. My mouth was moving, but nothing coming out.
Finally I found words. "I've just been busy. Honestly. It's nothing big, or anything. Just trust me" Definitely the wrong words. Absolutely. And most definitely, the WRONG WORDS.
"Oh. ok. Um. Alright. I trust you" I took a deep breath as she spoke the words.
"Um, thank you" I said and grabbed my coat. "I'll call you when I'm on my way back. Call Amber. She called yesterday" And ran out the door.
I arrived at the bridge fifteen minutes later.
"Hey hey" He smiled and walked up to me. "I've missed you"
I hugged him tightly. "I've missed you too"
"So, city, once again?" he asked. I smiled and nodded.
He took me back to his place that he and his brothers had been renting for their vacation.
"And, the best part.... dinner" he smiled and grabbed the phone. "McDonald's" he dialed the number. I laughed.
"Mmmm. I haven't had a french fry in I don't know how long" I closed my eyes and enjoyed the salt and over greased mashed potato in my mouth.
"Really? Well. I guess SuperStar's have it all" he smiled and ate a bite of his cheeseburger.
I laughed as he got close to me.
There was a pause. This. Could. Be. It.
"Do you wanna kiss me" I asked, but it sounded more like a statement.
He smiled, then nodded as he moved closer. I smiled as his soft lips glazed mine and for those three seconds I reached close to heaven.
He pulled away and smiled. The corners of my lips went up to my eyes as I leant in again for another taste of heaven.
