An original composition... kind of! The backing track is one of those free ones you get with the mags... " Rock & Metal Backing Tracks (That You Don't Really Dig)! I chopped it up, re-arranged it and dropped it down to E-flat.

I didn't really rehearse this as much as I should have... the tune was aching to get out of me man! So, I just set up the camera and went for it... this was the first complete take... without fucking up too badly!

The guitar is my 1990 Ibanez 540S... thru a Line 6 Pod Pro... line out straight into the Mac.

  • could you please tell me how to record straight line in to my mac? I have a laptop so I'm not excactly sure what input to use... and do you use garage band?

oh and I also use line 6 :)

and smooth playing keep it up, it's nice to listen to :)

  • Hi... you can use a USB lead straight out of the Pod Pro and into the mac but I had problems with that... best way is to get a stereo phono to mini jack audio cable, fit 1/4" jack adapters to the phono end and plug them into the left/right output of the Pod. Then plug the mini jack into the line in on the Mac. (Don't forget to change/check the sound settings in system preferences).

  • Nice playing! - Well, I'm thinking of buying an Ibanez S5470F-RVK but I'm worried about the sound because it's such a thin guitar. How do you think about the power / sustain of your S Series?

What kind of effects / Amp are you using to get this sound? Thanks in advance!

  • The Ibanez S-Series guitars have a very narrow body profile as you say. But... so far as sustain, there's absolutely no problem! The important bit is the middle... from the neck joint through to the bridge and that is pretty much the same as any other guitar. In this vid I'm using a Pod XT Pro straight into the Mac. Thnx for your comments dude!

  • Wow!!!! Amazing job. Loved the phrasing and the feeling and your tone. Do you mind tellin me where i might be able to find that backing track?

  • Thanks dude... the original was on a free CD from a guitar mag I got ages ago... can't remember which? But I cut it up and re-arranged it for this vid anyway!
