Your right, there was no major issue that happened leading up to this at all. It's amazing how easy it is to judge from your comfortable little, white corpoarte, mandolin playing world.
Not saying it was right to do all of this, but oh how simplistic to be sitting in your suburban living room and to judge the sitation.
Again, the rios were wrong, but it was because something huge happened, and it represented years of oppression and abuse. What's the point? We will never agree.
