This video is about my visit to see a ME expert from north America, and my follow up visit with my GP. I talk about my frustration with the NHS and it's treatment of people with complicated chronic illnesses

  • Im so sorry Paul to hear what that doctor did, I really hope you've found a new doctor, noone should put up with such rudeness. I actually thought you would be getting more listened to seeing whatever your problem is, is so visual. Often with ME, symptoms aint seen unless its extremely severe..and even then symptoms always cant be seen, it sucks some of the treatment Ive had due to that and unbelieving doctors or doctors who just dont care.

  • I did manage to write to him and we havesorted things out so that we can work together. He appreciated my honesty and said that he hadn't intended to be so rude. So it has all been dealt with now.

  • Great video. Honest, calm, collected, yet sad.

All the best mate, you sound a lovely bloke.

  • Joss can you tell me what the book is called?

  • I'm sorry Paul. How dare your GP be so rude to you!

I am reading book by consultant you saw - had to order it from British Library - took to GP last week - he was gobsmacked by the info in it and was genuinely surprised... can you take print out of his articles to your GP - one in particular might be helpful... And yes - make a complaint! I am so furious on your behalf.

    Love and all good things,

    Joss

  • That's dreadful! You should definitely switch GPs. Nobody should be treated so disrespectfully.

  • Ugh! That's terrible! Is there some sort of complaint procedure... or can you switch GPs?? Any doc who would treat you that way should not be involved in your care. Particularly not with something as complicated as ME/CFS where the doctor MUST trust the patient and listen to what we are saying because nothing is obvious with this illness.

  • it is great you have the other doctor on your side... just a shame he is in another counrty.

my GP here has been the same way... hasnt been as rude as yours but the same sort of thing... infact my doctor hasnt even run an MRI or refered me to a nurologist - my GP is a non-believer in ME/CFS, which made it very hard as he has been my doctor my whole life and i have now had to seek other medical opinions.

    hang in there.

  • Sorry that you experienced this Paul, as you say this sort of thing is happening all the time. At least you have got in touch with a proper doctor now, instead of the quacks and charlatans we have in the NHS. Your doctor = the anti-good samaritan. all the best

  • Paul - i am so sorry for this huge disappointment for you.

    In our thoughts and prayers,

    Linda
