@Nosteratees We wouldn't be standing alone; this isn't about isolationism. It's about maintaining a sovereign independent UK without the interference of an exogenous entity (the EU) undemocratically legislating over us. It's about maintaining a sovereign British identity. This doesn't even account for the economic constraints the EU has on us. Whether you like it or not, we pay in more than we get back. The EU can remain, but Britain, if the British people had their say, would not be part of it
@BritishIndependence This honestly isn't an attempt at trolling. I promise. I'd just be interested to know, from a believer in British independence, why do you think that Britain should stand alone?
I should point out, just to give you the balance of letting you know where I stand, that I consider myself a European.
@BritishIndependence Good, then. But the normal sequence of events in here is: british people democratically elect a government that wants to remove UK from the EU. Then the new government makes UK leave the EU. As far as I know you have a party with this objective. Vote for them.
@ShwangShwing I think you need to rethink your definition of democracy. It is true that article 50 of the "Treaty on European Union" allows a member-state to leave, upon certain conditions. The British aren't given a referendum because the government knows that we'd vote to leave. Look at my "statistics" video which cites the EU's own survey organisation - the British people want to leave.
@BritishIndependence Nothing stops UK from leaving the EU. Ironically EU withdrawal is reglamented by the lisbon treaty. So I would say it will be fair enough to proceed the following way: whoever doesn't want to be in EU, leaves; whoever wants to be in the EU stays. It seems democratic to me ;)

@ShwangShwing You're quite right, and that party is the fastest growing party in the United Kingdom.
