But how was he ignorant? He made sense to me. Hate to put this to you but the fact that you don't smoke doesn't mean you're not going to die. You're still going to get cancer or heart disease.

Well why didn't he go in sooner? All they do at emerg is clean out the gangrene and they're good to go. Why do some of them wait so long

I think its based on smoking causing blood clots and if bloodflow is stopped in the legs it can cause gangrene to set in.

He isn't quite as ignorant as you might think. Dont agree with him totaly but he is right that we will die no matter what we do. If he wants to spend that time smoking he and everyone else does have the right to. Personaly I can't stand the stuff.

john17972, smoking does not directly cause gangrene. Smoking leads to an increased risk of PVD, which then leads to gangrene.
