Spring marks the beginning of the fighting season in Afghanistan, and as Afghan and western forces prepare for the Taliban offensive, others will be preparing to battle the country's second greatest threat: poppy.
But eradicating Afghanistan's most prolific and illicit crop will be hampered by past missteps and what Afghan farmers perceive as a lack of understanding when it comes to the problems they face.
As aired on "Foreign Exchange," an Azimuth Media production, on May 2, 2008.
This report is part of Pulitzer Center-sponsored project "Afghanistan: Failure of Expectation" (http://bit.ly/tjmFFR).

plus "democracy" doesnt stand for 'fairness'. in its true definition it means the first to the gate, the majority rules!.... which means that if you "win" with 0.000000000001 of a percentage...YOU WIN & screw the rest! the rest has NO representation..... such a "priveledge"..... bla-ahhhhhhhhh ... i just threw up on the tv-hypno-box !

first, there is NO "democracy" in the lastest round of rigged elections in afghanistan. karzai doesnt even have 4% approval rate. his family are drug traffickers! their popularity-poll'g is rig'd; the medical establishment uses synthetic chemicals as prescription drugs now instead of opium, but opium & other drugs are used for trauma based mind-control practices of elite families & "celebrities" as well as to provide for their bohemian parties! it's ALL A SHAM & the world knows it now...
