  • @earthbound7711 I'm glad I called you a "moron"! Thank you for pointing a perspective view on the modern architecture. It made me realise not to look in a specific direction of some individual. For the record, you're not a moron...Good day!

  • @NightLord128 Study the Korean Hanok, Bam in Iran, Shibam, the medieval city, Haussman's transformation of Paris, the Insula and aqua duct of ancient Rome, the arcades of Paris and Louis Sullivan. He said "Form follows function". While this became bastardized by Modernists, his words still ring true today. In all great traditional architecture, function was first before it was turned into a work of art. Rem knows nothing of function so in my definition of architecture he is an idiot.

  • @NightLord128 Don't just study the kinds of column used in Greek architecture or the beauty of the Roman arch. These architects were masters of structure and local awareness. They knew their materials, land and people intimately and they knew exactly where the sun would rise, when is was coldest, where the summer breeze came from. They knew all this because they didn't rely on engineers to fix all their mistakes. Today's architecture sits in juxtaposition to the real world in order to stand out.

  • @NightLord128 There is little fame for the practical, the environmental, the efficient, the comfortable. What is striking is more often far too dramatic and symbolic to actually of real practical use. Look around you at school, everyone is trying to set themselves apart visually. It has been the key downfall of the profession and the key reason architects have been replaced by engineers and draftsmen. Traditional architects knew about structure and environment while today they know style.

  • @NightLord128 He may say he isn't a starchitect, but he is through and through. He represents nothing more than the continuation of superficial architecture that started largely in the modern age (other wise decried as Modernist). The major difference is that we aren't building the same number of buildings as we used to and only a select few highly stylized and often unique architects can become famous. The problem with modern arch is that it focuses on style over function.

  • @earthbound7711 As far as i know, the traditional buildings have influenced basically everything (i mean, if you would take a look at the era of the Greek Empire.) And i bet his works has some roots from the past as well.. But what can i say, people say there's almost no idea that has not been made yet. How can anyone be creative then if everything is already done? Let alone be 'yours'. Have a good day! and again.. sorry..

  • @earthbound7711 Even in this film he is contradicting the "starchitect", and doesn't feel like one. I was rude, i got agitated by the fact that people look at those kind of people in a way they do things (in general.) My apologies for being harsh on you, i realize it was not in my position to judge you like that. I don't really know how my "believes", are influencial to my work. I'm still in University, so yea i'm naive and maybe an idiot.

  • @NightLord128 Nothing he has done has influenced my life. Nothing in this 'film' is particularly intellectual...in fact very little about modern architecture is remotely intelligent. They pretend to be smart, but that's really what starchitects are good at and you're the idiot because you believe it. This is pure fiction and has little to offer the real world. The traditional buildings behind him are works of art and vastly more intelligent in comparison. Sad considering how old they are.

  • @earthbound7711 If you think, one of the most influencial architects, who changes the view of people looking at building and astonishing people with its interpreted ideas, a "moron". You're either very undereducated, not even intellectual challenged by this movie and i bet you haven't even got any idea what this is about nor what he's talking about. Please go finish your school first, get a graduation at architecture and stop trolling. I'm done...

  • what a moron
