The Northampton arson fires: A suspect in custody

After nine days of searching, Northampton, Mass. and Hampshire County officials have charged a 25-year-old Northampton man, Anthony P. Baye, with murder and arson in the spree of blazes that rocked the city on December 27 and left two other city men dead. The arrest of Baye brought relief to an area that had wondered if the person who had set 15 fires early that morning was among them.

This is really a sad thing. I know Tony Baye. I went to school with him my whole life. We've hung out and shared alot of the same friends. He was never ill in the head and is a perfectly normal person.

Another great job by Northampton's finest: finding a wet, cold mentally ill man wandering the streets, and acquiring a 'confession', and charges within the week. Amazing. Really.
