This is my first of many how-to videos for ACW reenacting. Here is the contents of my knapsack and haversack minus food and extra arsenal packs. I am not trying to start a hard-core against farb war b

  • @kestainbrook I use a cloth to wrap my slab bacon. Its not raw and I get mine from a butcher that salt cures and smokes the meat. I dont leave my haversack in the sun or do other things that could spoil it which can happen to my bacon. Ac forum and other online sources have more info on slab bacon and true salt pork.

  • Great videos!! Please make more!

  • @CivilWarReenacting1 I will make more but right now school and my other projects are a bit of a more pressing matter. I have not had the time to do more but when I do they will be good. maybe before my spring break but definitely by St. Patricks day will have more out. Thank you for the compliment.

  • Good video, its better than the other one that talks about it being a haversack and box. At least yours is researched and you use correct verbage as well.

  • @dawarnold thank you for the compliment and for subscribing.

  • @tkdmasterbound Thanks! I dont have a hardpack myself but one tip I could give is to make sure your weight is evenly distributed. I know some people who say that it is one of the most uncomfortable knaosacks to wear. Dont overburden it either.

  • Question: How do you wrap your slab bacon for an event? And how well does raw meat keep in a haversack over a weekend? I'm a bit apprehensive.

Thanks for your very helpful vids.

  • I love this video, it shows the adverage reenactor what to do to be specific, see, im gettin a hard pack near feb. so, yeah.

  • And thanks for your question! My semester is almost over and I will put some more videos out. Been busy with big projects!

  • There is plenty of photographic evidence of blankets on top, greatcoats on top and nothing at all. I have even read info of soldiers folding greatcoats into their knapsack and rolling blankets on top. I dont have a greatcoat and take only one blanket. Its more comfortable having it there since that bag is not overflowing with extra un-necessaries. Pack light, thats what soldiers did.
