  • Gene Autry is the best country singer I know (after that is Taylor Swift and Johnny Cash) they are all amazing, and guess how old I am? 13. yup

most my friends listen to all this modern rubbish like lady gaga and rihanna and nicki minaj. which is understandable since they're singers of they're generation. If I could go to any generation, It'd be his, then I could see him and Cash, id be the happiest thirteen year old in the world!

  • Sleepless in seattle brought me here

  • Gene Autry I love you!!! Mainly cuz you're from Oklahoma.

  • @Nojnotpu - Well said. Not all beer and skittles back then, was it? Sad that, but in the main it seems people were more law-abiding and generally more interested in others than they are now. Racial bigotry is vile, so unjust and so baseless - all men are created equal as the American constitution says - they might say it, but often don't practise it. All that has nothing to do with Gene's singing, he's alwys been good, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to reply to your comment.

  • This stuff is wonderful and I love Gene Autry. We must not forget however, that around a similar time, blacks were being lynched in the deep south and popular black musicians were not even allowed to stay in the Hotels they were performing at. I am not saying that this applied to Gene Autry, because he wasn't black, but it does indicate that not all of the USA was, and still isn’t, the wonderful place that his romantic, home spun, starry eyed, patriotic, all American songs depicted.

  • Brings back memories of listening to Gene Autry cassettes in my grandma's car as a kid.

  • I wish I lived in that time xx where life was easier, I'm twelve and nicked my grandads CDs.. I hate all this pop rubbish!

  • Ahh Yea !!
