In Tasmania they have very distinctive signs to alert drivers they are entering a 40 kmph school zone. I think this should be adopted nationally, as it is the best speed sign I have seen yet. It is only activated at the set times eg. 8 - 9 am and 3 - 4pm.
There are a lot of drivers that get fined for speeding in the restricted speed zone simply because they forgot it was the set times to travel at 40kmph.
And above that it enhances the safety of the kids.
They also have 40kmph signs on the back of school buses, that when the bus lights are flashing the motorists approaching must slow to that speed.
i don't get this stupid video-AT ALL!!!!!!!!!

I have always obeyed the speed limits but today I lost my licence and got a $333 fine doing 61km/h in a school zone after missing the 40km/h sign.
If I had seen the sign I would have done 40, considering I was still about 800m away from the actual school I was not thinking about school zones.
It just annoys me getting punished for an honest mistake...it's not like it's going to teach me a lesson...
Don't make honest mistakes.

@itsdamo1993 Yes, it is way to easy toforget about the ordinary signs. I wouldnt like to think on the number of occassions I have gone through a 40 zone too fast, simply caause I forgot it was school time. Especially at say 3.50pm when all the kids have already gone home.
