That must be why Hugh omitted the guitar solo. He just wanted to get it over with so he could tell them to fuck off and that the band could quit the gig.

from what ive read is that the stranglers were pissed that they made the students that didnt go to the university pay. thats what pissed them off and walked off. they were selling tickets for expensive prices.

I was there, but the show didn't last long. The Stranglers thought us Surrey Uni students were a bunch of wankers, and didn't want to play to us any more. Well, to be honest, I agreed with them, most of the audience weren't normal Strangler fans but people who just wanted to be seen on Tv and just hung around staring at the TV cameras, like bloody zombies. No wonder the Stranglers got pissed off with us, and walked off the stage after about 10 minutes. Yep, I was glad I was there.

Rock Goes To College from October '78They did 5 songs at this gig before walking off. The BBC started filming from song 4 which was "Burning Up Time". The BBC edited out the guitar solo during "Hanging Around" which is why it appears very short. Full setlist was Ugly, I Feel like a wog, Bring On The Nubiles, Burning Up Time & Hanging Around.
