6-12-09 Ally using her Dynavox with Eye Gaze - SMA Type 1

Ally is 3 years old with Type 1 Spinal Muscular Atrophy. She is just learning to use her Dynavox computer with Eye Gaze to communicate and show us what she knows and wants. Her eyes are the mouse and when she gazes at one item, it turns read and chooses it. This is during a speech session with Chris Rosenthal. Ally is more successful at times, but still learning.

Yes, Ally's Dynavox is also a computer and has windows. We have some computer games loaded on it and eventually she can also use the internet. We can make her eye gaze go to the desk top programs, or she can use a switch to play them. She is still learning to use it, but is getting better with good and bad days. She is only 4, so she has moods on some days too. We are very proud of her.
