De Grote Markt (The Big Market) is a souvenir-piece from Groningen, a city in the north of The Netherlands. It was inspired by the view of the bustling outdoor market place of Groningen, on a rainy day during the weekend the composer Victor Kioulaphides visited The Netherlands. He had come especially to Groningen to be present at a concert given by the Dutch Mandolin Chamber Orchestra The CONSORT conducted by Alex Timmerman to witness the premiere of his Concerto per Orchestra a Pizzico was performed.
The Big Market (© 2005) is a study for mandolin solo in changing meters and left-hand articulations. It is performed here by Ruth Rouw, one of the mandola players of The CONSORT, on an Embergher (Pecoraro) concert mandolin model N. 5bis.
too "artistic" start for my taste, sweet mandolin though

Hi @omoshiroidayo,
Yes, the composition starts with flageolettes. Best greetings from Holland.
