I cleaned my trumpet yesterday and decided to film the adventure.

It's been years since I've taken trumpet lessons, and it's been just as long since I cleaned a trumpet. If I hadn't sped up the video so fast (to get the whole cleaning under three minutes), I'd probably have professional trumpet players on my back over the way I cleaned it.

I got this trumpet off eBay (very sanitary, I know) after I had already stopped with the lessons. This is the first time I've cleaned it since I got it. Looks like whoever had it last didn't maintain it very well.

I didn't use the Spitballs because I was worried that, with my luck, they'd get stuck.

songs:
"Sing, Sing, Sing (with a Swing)" - Benny Goodman
"Gaston" - Beauty & the Beast soundtrack

  • I don't actually know... but I don't think I used my trumpet without cleaning the mouthpiece when I first got it.... So, there's a way to do it, but I don't know/remember what it is. :P

  • ahahahahaha best part

    *points to trumpet snake* "WET"

  • Yeah, dumb accident, but no matter... she looks cute

  • How often am I supposed to make a big clean like this?

  • @sweetsue9254 SOAP AND WATER!! to be honest, be sure to rinse well, and that will disinfect the mouthpiece, the whole trumpet: i put the bell in the bathtub and the rest of the parts i hand wash, rinse everything, re apply oil and greases, and boom a clean trumpet :D

  • @webkinzgirl9079 there these things you shove about 4 inches down ur lead pipe and then you blow throught ur mouthpiece and it comes out the bell...there suppose to reduce dirt bild up

  • @webkinzgirl9079 I'd like to know too. :(

  • you have the same cleaning kit I do

  • I haven't even looked at my horn in years. This video made me smile. Back in High School the horn section always bragged that trumpet players were the best kissers. :)
