What is a Shabbat Candle is it like to pray for a Person who died and ask to bless their meanings ?
DjUnBoxing999 1 year ago
@DjUnBoxing999 It is a religious obligation for us Jews to have light in our homes on the Sabbath. The way we achieve this is through Shabbat candles. Jews do not pray to the dead, only directly to God. Shalom,

Do you burn the candles till they burn out or are you allowed to extinguish them say before you go to sleep.

@yackyick You allow them to burn out. Any lit fire during the Shabbat becomes "muktzeh"- a category of things that cannot be touched or manipulated (like money or expensive electronics). This is a safeguard against you using this preexistent fire to light up something else, which is explicitly forbidden in the Torah.
