Bloomsburg Shooting

Campus police are conducting an investigation into a large fight that broke out near Kehr Union around 2 a.m. Sunday morning, during which town, state and local police responded. At least one gunshot is believed to have been fired into the air, but at this point, it is unclear if a student or non-student fired that shot. No one was injured in the melee, which occurred after a campus group event ended. According to police, a crowd of almost 300 people gathered outside of Kehr Union and fights broke out among groups. One student was arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer. Pepper spray was used to subdue the student, who was arraigned on charges that include disorderly conduct, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest. The investigation is on-going at this point. Campus officials, who have recently been reviewing the guidelines for student events, say they expect to have changes made shortly to promote the safety of everyone on the campus, including the possible installation of metal detectors at Kehr Union events.
