Dalvik Turbo, a replacement of the standard engine powering Android applications, benchmarked against the standard Dalvik Virtual Machine using the 3D Cubes animation.

The Android device powered by Dalvik Turbo shows on the left while the device on the right is powered by the standard Android 1.5/1.6 Dalvik virtual machine.

A similar demo was recorded at Mobile World Congress bby Golem.de: check it there http://video.golem.de/handy/2853/demonstration-von-dalvik-turbo-auf-dem-mobil....

  • Because of point number 1...does HTC use Dalvik Turbo in the Android build for the HTC Desire? Or is there any phone out there who uses your engine?

  • Dalvik Turbo has not been widely deployed within commercial products yet. However, we expect commercial deployment in 2010.

  • ... and 5. As founder members of the OHA we pay special attention to the compatibility validation and testing of our products and this also applies to Dalvik Turbo.

    Myriad team

  • Hi there - thanks for your interest in Myriad, and in Dalvik Turbo.

To answer your questions in order:

    1. In line with its other portfolio offerings, Myriad offers Dalvik Turbo for evaluation to Phone manufacturers and Operators.

    2. Arrangements with our customers are commercially sensitive so we do not disclose these.

    3. At this stage we do not plan to sell direct to users.

    4. Any discussions with Google, as with all our partnerships, are commercially sensitive.

  • So how will Dalvik Turbo be tied into Android? Will it be exclusive to certain models of phones? Will it be an app/update that users can purchase? Or do you have plans on working with Google to tie it into the Android's OS? And how does the fact that you're part of the OHA effect that decision?

  • hell it's fucking awesome!
