you're comparing American daytime soaps to primetime or night dramas. They aren't similar enough to compare to one another... you'd have to compare night time Brit soaps to other night time American dramas.

B&B is primtime viewing in every other country I have seen it screened (UK, France, Netherlands, South Africa, Italy). It's a fair comparison.

Second of all, EE is primetime. Third, who knows how much time they had to shoot these. B&B shot these scenes probably in 1/4 of the day (they shoot 2 eps a day and they certainly didn't spend half a day on these). Bottom line, the comparison is unfair. US soaps are MEANT to be sensationalistic, UK realistic. I like both.

the point is that Daytime soaps ( I did say America ) are made to be light fare for average housewives to view in midday . They were not too interested in reality or brutality-- just fantasy and romance with finciful conflict. That's like comparing BAMBI to AKIRA... the original intention is too different.

european drama is much more realistic. B&B is quite bad with this sort a thing.

very interesting, i never had a chance to see european dramas, i can honestly say its much more graphic, but then i'm not suprised. however daytime dramas have to be more tame then nightime dramas so its not fair to compare. that UK drama is a damn good show though.

Then you have Sunset Beach too... It's not airing now, but it got cut because they wanted to do Passions instead.. But they had some really good violence scenes in that soap..

I can not stand American soaps, acting is always just so lame. It is usually not even good for low level theater acting. I prefer sticking to the realism and quality of British soaps and acting. and what is the colour all about in American programs, why is everything always orange.
