This is the Masten Space Systems XA-0.1B-750 (xombie) rocket. On the day I was present, it lifted off and hovered 10 or so feet off the ground, then lifted RAPIDLY to just over 1000 feet, then came down at 60MPH(!) until just before touchdown when it slowed to a stop and then lightly descended to the pad. Amazing to watch! I imagined myself seeing some alien craft coming in, it was hard. Congrats to Ben Brockert and the rest of the team. Good show!

Also on this video Paul Breed of Unreasonable Rocket launched his rocket Blue, it rose to 1000 feet very quickly, right away Blue looked unstable and was beginning to fly out of control, Paul Breed said that it was flying towards the spectator area so he made the decision to pull the plug, literally. The engine was cut and the tank was depressurized. The rocket fell to the earth and smashed into the ground destroying it's self in the process.

Shot on a Canon Vixia HF S100.

  • Spelling check... it's Masten Space Systems, not "Masden Space Research" as shown in the video intro.

  • @ikluft damnit! I thought I fixed that!! thanks for the tip... it's probably going to stay that way though, would require re-rendering and uploading :(

  • Nice video! What camera did you shoot that with?
