Former wildlife filmmaker and author Julia Whitty discusses the environmental impact of the BP oil spill on the Gulf of Mexico and beyond, calling surface damage merely "the tip of the 'oilberg.'" The majority of the damage, says Whitty, will be to the ocean's deep scattering layer.

-----

Julia Whitty talks about Deep Blue Home. Whitty presents a penetrating exploration of the three-dimensional ocean river, far more powerful than the Nile or the Amazon, encircling the globe. It's a watery force connected to the earth's climate control and so to the eventual fate of the human race. Whitty is the author of The Fragile Edge.

Julia Whitty is a writer and former documentary filmmaker. She is the author of Deep Blue Home: An Intimate Ecology of Our Wild Ocean, due out July 2010, and of The Fragile Edge, a book on coral reefs, winner of a PEN USA Literary Award, the John Burroughs Medal, the Kiriyama Prize, and finalist for the Dayton Literary Peace Prize.

Her short story collection A Tortoise for the Queen of Tonga won an O. Henry and was a finalist for the PEN Hemingway Award.

  • @danvalenti, she's a bit weathered but you know she's in good shape.

  • Is it me... Or this chick hot...

  • @RenegadeTimes I. Said. Good. Day.

  • @Phelan666 Only thing that is revealed by your comments to me is a person who needs someone to do their groundwork.

In the old days they just plain called that lazy..lol

  • @RenegadeTimes Yup, my suspicions have been confirmed. You don't have any real evidence. If you did you would have presented it as I had ask, instead of resorting to that "Look for the evidence yourself" bullshit.

As I have said about five times already, if you wish to argue a point, bring your evidence to the table.

And what the fuck is with all the ad hominems? Don't insult me. You don't know anything about me.

    Good day.

  • @Phelan666 ~ Perhpa you missed what I wrote. BP execs. and close crony's sold off BP shares "before" the spill. Do you understand what that implys ? Bloomberg as well as other's ran the story. If you have been paying attention through the several finanical events that have recently taken place you might understand what is being done. Unlike many YT'ers I do not waste time trying to get people to look beyond their noses. I spend time researching . I suggest you do the same .

  • @RenegadeTimes Okay, what evidence do you have to support your claims? Don't come back with this "you can figure it out" bullshit. You brought it up. The burden of proof is on you.

  • @Phelan666 ~ Not buying it. When there are "that" many dots...one must see the connections. BP exec's and their crony's sold many many shares right before ...the spill...

    put options ...on 911.

Believe what you must. You're in concert with vast majarity of American's.

    snoozing away ~

  • @RenegadeTimes None of this is deliberate. There is no vast conspiracy. This is all happening because human beings are morons.

  • She seems very sincere and passionate in what she says; making her a good person.
