Cops, cops everywhere but not any on guard

With an unusually large number of gun-totting cops, Connaught Place resembled an impregnable fortress; a day after a bomb scare gripped the area.
But even though the environment looked secure, the usual gaps were obvious. The private security guards deployed to frisk shoppers entering Palika Bazaar were doing their job but were not alert. The lady police constable posted at the entry was more interested in discussing her culinary skills as she checked handbags. The cops on duty were armed with sophisticated guns but stood casually, without paying much attention to their surroundings.
