  • Unfortunately it isn't a carillon, it is a chime. There are only 10 bells at Derby Cathedral and a carillon has to have a minimum of 23 bells. At the moment the only cathedral in England to have a carillon is York Minster which has a 35 bell carillon.

  • Are there two versions of the song? All the ones I've found have a different tune.

  • Yeah! At Saint modwens Burton-On-Trent they have a big drum like this, it's a big music box which playes a different tune everyday. In fact, it's the same almost.

  • Even so, it's a fascinating bit of kit.
