Quran Miracle Debunked 4 : Moving Mountains.
A number of fraudulent islamic videos and sites claim that the Quran states
information in regards to tectonic movement.
What the verse (out of context) specifically states is
"you see the mountains you reckoned to be solid, going past like clouds"
here are a few obvious problems:-
-In almost all cases, in order to see a mountain you have to be on it's continent to
see it, therefor 'going past' can't be applicable.
-In even more cases, the continents move away from each other, therefor 'going past'
can't be applicable.
-In almost all cases, you can't see other continents because the Earth is spherical
and our field of vision doesn't bend, therefor 'going past' like clouds' can't be
applicable.
-Humans only live for a few decades, mountains take millions of years (at best) for
any significant change to take place.
I was able to work out that in order for this verse TO be applicable, you would have
to live on the coast of southern France, with hi-tech binoculars, looking towards
africa, for several million years straight, at one particular point in time, with
someone else in africa building a giant tower to be used as a focus point..
However, none of this even matters ,because when see the verses before and after (to
gain the context) we quickly see how this is not miraculous and is not specifically
in regards to a constant event.
your argument is flawed
