My first coherent homemade light ever!! Its a cheap homemade N2 air laser made mostly of stuff I had at my house. Emits in the UV. for more information email me or google "TEA laser".

The acetate thickness is about 0.1mm. It is just a standard sheet of acetate used for overhead projectors. The power supply is two AA batteries feeding into a disposable camera. The flashtube, capacitor, and diode have been removed and replaced by a 10 stage Cockcroft Walton multiplier (20 1N4007 diodes and 20 820pF 1kV ceramic capacitors). The CW parts were purchased from a local store that is like what Radioshack once was.

The acetate can be found at office supply stores and places like Kinko's that do printing. The 6mm metal rods were scrap from a dead chromatograph autoinjector, but you could get something similar from McMaster-Carr. The rest is just aluminium foil and wire.

  • @duckythescientist This might sound stupid, but is it possible to light a match with this?

  • @toadsEATbugs Unfortunately no. The momentary power is extremely high, but the overall energy is too low to do much.

  • Driver boards from a scanner and a flash unit from a disposable camera? what are you using for the tube?

  • @Demonchld666 No boards from a scanner. I used a flash unit with a Cockcroft-Walton multiplier.
