A GILLIG PHANTOM. This is to fill yet another request, as i get down the list of them!! This bus is part of the fleet belonging to Santa Rosa city bus. There is only 2 with this body style and with the 6V-92. All the rest are newer and some brand new, and they all got different engines and transmissions then this oldie.

  • @AEMoreira81

Same with us in Central Florida.

  • I miss the old buses like this, I remember always riding them as a kid now there all ugly new flyers lol

  • I used to rely on Santa Rosa Citybus to get around and befriended many of the drivers. One mentioned how the numbers releated to the year the city acquired them. This coach, #911, was the first of the coaches the city got in 1991. They had Gilligs from 1984 (#'s 841-846), 1987 (#'s 871-874), and then 1991 (#'s 911-913). In 98' the fleet changed to low-floor.

I loved the sound these busses made vs. that of the the Grunman Flexables S.R. ran during the same time.

  • sounds like its on high idle. My bus doesnt sound so "fast" when I am idling at the curb

  • @j45007 Yeah those

  • i think that used to be 1 of suffolk county transits old 87 buses

  • I live in a Santa Rosa city bus. Converted it into a rv. My bus is a 1983 Grumman. The biggest issues with it is the electrical. Other than that it rocks. I had to replace the 24volt starter in it which was a pain in the ass. Only cause my bed us in the way of the service access pannel.
