Uploading this for my students and anyone else who might learn from it! This is my version of the "super saidi" riff. Comment, ask questions, and enjoy!

There appears to be some sort of timing jump in the beginning, but it doesn't effect the lesson portion.

  • Very nice Dave. A bit choppy at the front, but I assume that you were experiencing techie difficulties.

Question about the Ka you are playing: Are you snapping, or playing with both the ring and middle finger?

    Either way, great tone.

    Thanks for posting.

  • The main problem with recording from a second mic is that it seems to occasionally overload the processor and cause skips like that. One of these days I'll get a good DV camera!

  • Thanks for posting this video Dave! I learned a new rhythm. I made a video of me playing it. Writing an app for i-phone that stores doumbek rhythms and has videos/audio connected to it. Hopefully I'll have that out within the next month! There is a vid on my profile of me playing your version of the super saidi. Just learned it the other day. Tried to video respond with it but not sure it wored!

  • could you please put more pdf in your site?thanks alot

  • Super Sa'idi is the easiest!!! xD

  • Nice tutorial, man

a question about flams: I can play "dum" and "ka" at the same time, but to get a good "separation of senses" I also need to be able to play "slap" and "ka" at the same time... but I can't seem to do it, no matter how I try!

Is there a special way to do it?

    Thanks

  • thank you soo much can u do more am learning
