@marshknute It's a matter of personal opinion. I like to drive with flappy paddle, for me is more enjoyable and I always go for what I like and not for what others like.

Manual gearboxes will be overcome soon by the new generation of auto gearboxes. Mazda MX5 is a great car, but it didn't get my vote. VW Polo GTI with DSG gave me more pleasure to drive. We are all different and you are not a best driver only to use a manual gearbox. I have 2 cars with auto and 2 others with manual.

@MAFTulha Um...you're not an F1 driver or a WRC driver. Why do you need shave 0.4 seconds off of your daily commute? The Mazda MX-5 is the best selling sports car in history, and yet it fits your "oldtimer" definition: it has a naturally aspirated engine, a manual transmission and no power steering (depending on the generation).  It's more fun and rewarding to change gear yourself. Flappy paddle gearboxes are only appropriate for race cars. Real driver's cars have manual transmissions.
