  • beer + clamato = UMAMI.

  • @rajsanand Umami is recognised almost universally by scientists. MSG is a separate issue.

  • japanesegourmetcooking*com -- great Japanese umami recipes.

  • umami is japanese for deliciousness, if anyone cares.

  • I add oyster sauce to my mushroom flavoured instant noodles. Mmmmmmmm...

  • MSG could be really dangerous for health, but Glutamic acid is inocuous and have the same fx on food preparation. But glutamic acid is much more expensive...

  • woops, my bad. I meant to say sweet sour salty and 'bitter'.

Here are some examples of foods that represent a single flavor that you could test your taste buds on:

    Sweet: Sugar

Sour: Citric Acid, commonly found in citrus fruit such as lemons.

    Salty: Table Salt

Bitter: Quinine, most commonly found in tonic water.

  • sweet sour salty and sweet???

  • finally something better than MSG!

  • omg! Jet Li! =O
