(Transcription) Serendipity by Tal Wilkenfeld

Me playing Tal Wilkenfeld's Serendipity. It took me about 3 weeks to transcribe this completely by ear/watching the video of her playing it live. I didn't write it down so this is all by memory! I'm 13 and have been taking bass lessons for about 9 months now :)

how do you get that tone on the open E ? I like it : ) good job btw

@o0Angara0o Thanks! All I did get that sound is turn the neck pickup all the way off and turn the bridge pickup and the tone control all the way up and play off the bridge pickup to get that Tal/Jaco sound :)

That is a pretty cool little vid. At the intro, I thought it was going to be a bit bad, but you really picked up.

In the record, on the second section, is Tal playing slap? I know she plays it finger live, but it sounds like slap on the album to me.

P.s. try resting your thumb on the E when you're playing on the D and G. It's tricky to get used to but it really takes off a lot of strain. There's nothing wrong with your playing, by the way, I'm just giving a little tip.

@CabboPearimo8 Hey thanks for your feedback! I don't think it's slap.... i actually got a chance to talk to Tal and asked her if she ever played slap.... she told me that she rarely did unless the music called for it. So I'm not positive if she is or not on this track......

You are definitely mastering the technique aspect, but improvisation is the hard part ;) Now the question is: can you start come up with your own solo stuff that sounds this good? Looking forward to hearing more of your own material and soloing!
