@reeseman67 It was also very versatile, originally intended as a troop support vehicle it's self-propelled 7.5 cm gun lent itself to the 'Anti-Tank' role, and as the situation worsened they eventually wised up and started ramping production of the Stug to support the German defense instead of 'Real Tanks', which makes sense since it has a great gun and was used in an ambush role, not a tank role to protect Berlin, great tank with a lot of variant's.
No turret, but it was LOW so it was great in open country ambushing/hard to hit w/low center of gravity. Didn't have good visibility when buttoned up but you had excellent visibility with the hatches open and it had good armor, it could mount co-axial and top mounted MG-34/42 behind the shield and be fitted with a periscope and remotely fire from inside and a HELL OF A 75mm self-propelled anti-tank gun. At 3/4 the cost of a Panzer 3 they should have made a LOT MORE than 10K, glad they didn't!
You think so ? If i count the number of tanks and TD on both side equivalent to the M4 or better to the germans in production numbers and add them up they equal in production numbers... The problem was the 2 front war not production
the concept of the sherman is it PUTS A TANK WHERE THERE WAS NO TANK BEFORE its fast and great for manuever in large numbers. practical idea for a world war mindset which is where the germans failed.
@LYinKansas Nah, It´s just that the allies had more Shermans then the germans had AT ammo for...
