For those of you who haven't been able to get to one of Slash's gigs and hear the AFD100 in the flesh, here's a little video we took when we met up with the man himself in sound check at Bataclan in Paris. Enjoy.

  • To poeple who bitch about Slash's playing abilites. I have seen MANY videos on You Tube of people demoing JCM800's w #39 mods or a #36 mod. or the AFD100 itself. I even saw a video of a dude playing a AFD Les Paul through a 59 Superlead with a #36 mod which was suposedly the AFD setup. Although they sound similar to the Appeite amp for some reason it just doesn't sound right .That reason? THE PEOPLE PLAYING THE GEAR ARE NOT SLASH!! 90% of why AFD's sound was so amazing was because of SLASH

  • i think his tone has evolved over time...with GNR he had a different tone....probably the small venue in this one.but its SLASH so pretty much any tone sounds gud with that guy

  • definitely, DJ Ashba need one of these!

  • @Deltarogers LOL :D 90% percent of people playing the AFD are not Slash.

  • @Neylus Oh sorry my bad it's a jcm 800 39#

  • @Neylus Another thing is that you see, i have a Vintage Modern as slash used all the LIVE times at velvet revolver. This amp is awsome becus you change the character by usin the (body) and (detail). So if i whant i can get AFD, if i whant i can get JCM 800 36-39# and if i whant the signature slash jcm sound. So that's awsome. But in studio slash ALWAYS use jcm 800 no mod. At stage he is usin: JCM SLASH (Dirty) , Marshall Silver Jublilee (Clean) and the Vintage Modern (Dirty 2)

  • What's that JCM 800 Mod in the video ? #39, #36, #34 ?

  • @RuunoYuuTuub that's the perfect way to put it, except i would say he doesn't play just over average. he's way above average. people who are just over average fuck up every now and then. slash never messes up. i think if he was interested in shredding and put his mind to it he could be a great shredder.

  • @danachonda That's awesome about your amp Slash's real AFD amp was SIR's stock #36 amp; a'59 SupLed-NT, modded by Frank Levi replicating Tim Caswell's infamous mod to SIR's #39 amp; a' 59 SupLed-T. Slash used #39 for the AFD rehearsals and wanted it for the sessons, but SIR had rented it out to DOKKEN's guitarist. So they fabbed #36 with the same mod. Slash tried to steal the amp but his roadie returned it. By "UYI" both amps were gone from SIR so Slash picked #34; A JCM800 modded by Levi.

  • @Deltarogers Yea, I bought mine Brand new in 97 for 1,100$. So I can't complain. But I also use the same speakers as Slash, the Celestion Vintage 30's. So I get REAL close with his sound. And granted AFD was recorded on one that was modded. The one I have has 50watts, or 100!!

  • @danachonda True, there is or (by the time you read this) was a Jubilee for sale on ebay for $3,500. A full stack, it look like it was in mind condition. I have scene a couple of people messing around with it on Youtube and it sounds great. Like they are playing through his amp. The tone is there.......I can only assume that a studio amplifer is more difficult to replicate than a live amp. According to Slash used SIR's #34 (Levi modded JCM800) of most of the "Use Your Ilusion" recording sessions
