This all-out session is only done occasionally, but it rules to do a hammer workout. The concept is pretty straight forward, based on KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid; do a 60-minute all-out workout.

The first set is 10 minute MTB out, and when the timer beeps -- I return in less then 10 minutes.

Second, I do a fast change to running shoes; an again 10 out, 10 home.

Last, I enter my Surfski kayak for 10/10 on the water.
When the water temperature raises just a bit, I will change the order of the workout. When driving the same route, this serves as an excellent opportunity to gauge my fitness.

Occasionally I change or add several other ingredients. Roller-skiing, in-lines, canoe, swimming -- yeah whatever available for another blast-out session.

  • You know, this is probably one of the best, most simple ways of squeezing in a quality hard, sport specific adventure race training day! I am surely going to adapt this for my own training. Great video!!
