The Memphis Tow group invades Henson's Gap. Butch, Miller, Brent, Ross, Jeff, and Scott. The towing group and other Tennessee Tree Topper members fly at Henson's Gap on Saturday, July 18, 2009. Lots of ridge soaring. It was a bit cool for July too...eveyone was getting cold while they were up.

Hello there. We are trying to make a takeoff ramp like that on a flight site on Colombia. Do you have a way of posting some pics, specs or similar so we can get an idea?

There are a lot of videos about flying, many lack quality. This is an exception. Good camera work. It's not easy to follow a speeding wing from afar with a long zoom lens.

Major thumbs up on all espects of this video. What a great job you did with it ! I can watch it over and over. A few of us at our Florida site are planning on a visit on Oct. 22 to Tennessee. Can't wait. I miss the mountains after 4 yrs of flying the flat lands. Happy Skies My Friend ;)

Thanks! Glad you liked it. Most of the guys in this video platform truck tow the flatter lands near Dyersburg, TN most of the time. This wasn't everyon, but great fun having them get together at Henson's. We just got back from TTT team challenge at Henson's yesterday. It was a bit more rainy up there this year and they didn't get in as much flying time. Hope to go back soon. It's so much better than being in Memphis. Hope you have a great time in TN when you get here. Take care and fly safe!

Boy, this brings back great memories. I flew off this ramp 29 years ago. Glad to know it is still there and being put to good use. Great vid.

Yep, it's still there. I am sitting at Henson's Gap right now typing this. It is home to the Tennessee Tree Toppers Hang gliding club. They just had a huge revamp the ramp project. It looks great and gets lots of use.They are having Team Challenge right now. They have it every year during the last week of Sept.
