The life expectancy of cherry trees are shortened by 30 years (normal cherry trees live for aproximately 80 years) in here Osaka-jo Koen because of smokes people make for barbecue.

I absolutely hate this aspect of Japan! Japanese have culture of adoring cherry blossoms as a tradition, but most people nowadays are just so stupid that they don't know anything but drinking, eating and making a fuss...

How was your first Hanami experience in Japan?

Thanks for the info. Hanami is certainly a wonderful tradition. I really enjoy it! It's great to see so many people having fun and relaxing with each other :)

Historically, hanami is a Japan thing so I doubt that you will find it in the other Asian countries. Originally, I heard that hanami became very popular among the lords and spread through the common people in Japan. From ancient time in Japan people were inspired to write poetry and haiku based on the beauty of cherry blossoms. So hanami is deeply rooted in Japanese genes. Enjoy hanami!
