In July of 2011, students from SEEDS Summer Camp attended the Traverse City Film Festival and watched a screening of "If a Tree Falls: A Story of the Earth Liberation Front". Afterward, during the Q & A with director Sam Cullman, one 7th grade camper was perplexed as to why the person who tattled on everyone else didn't go to jail like the others. His question was applauded by the entire audience which not only built Carter's (the student) confidence, but the other campers as well. Afterwards, through the respect of the director, the other attendees, and the sheer energy of the TCFF, all the campers felt inspired and encouraged to talk openly about their different opinions regarding the movie. Sam- thank you for a great film, volunteers- thank you for your patience and 5 buckets of popcorn, TCFF- thank you for providing this unique opportunity to our SEEDS campers.
