LYRICS:
Taking on Water
Sailing a restless sea
From a memory
A fantasy
The wind carries
Into white water

Far from the islands
Don't you know you're

Never going to get to France
Mary Queen of chance will they find you
Never going to get to France
Could a new romance ever bind you

Walking on foreign ground
Like a shadow
Roaming in far off
Territory
Over your shoulder
Stories unfold you're
searching for sanctuary
you know you're

Never going to get to France
Mary Queen of chance will they find you
Never going to get to France
Could a new romance ever bind you

I see a picture
by the lamp's flicker
Isn't it strange
How dreams fade and shimmer

Never going to get to France
Mary Queen of chance will they find you

Never going to get to France
Could a new romance ever bind you

I see a picture
by the lamp's flicker
Isn't it strange
how dreams fade and shimmer

Never going to get to France
Mary Queen of chance will they find you
Never going to get to France
Could a new romance ever bind you .

  • Top song, a must listen for every 80's fan! I never cease to listen to this one, along with Moonlight Shadow, my two personal favourites. Greetings from Portugal! :)

  • I remeber the first time I've heard this song on my Grundig Micro Boy transistor radio, that was one night in '84. I was in the army on had guard duty, damn,- just as if it was yesterday..

  • What a beautiful voice !

  • Perfect masterpeace =) // Sweden

  • Охуительно!!!

  • Mint Maggie. Great song

  • What a pity that this is playback :X

  • Know it (have it on DVD), love this life performance.

  • Scotland also loves you

  • So charming. Straight back to the early 80s. Cleanly made recording, nice and sharp - reminiscent of Genesis and their ilk, but somehow refreshingly different. Oldfield never quite surrendered to Prog the way some of the sillier acts like Yes and Wakeman did. He stayed sane.
