The last time the media and the office of parliament sat down for a frank discussion on the coverage of parliament Sarah Flood Beaubrun was the Speaker of the House.
Three years later many of the concerns articulated by the media still linger today after that meeting in 2008. This time the new President and the Senate and the Speaker of the House has given assurances that measures will be taken to facilitate improvements in reporting of events of parliament. The media were also educated on the dos and don't of parliamentary procedure and protocol regarding their duties. But the candid discussion also brought of the question of the role of the current President of the Senate who is also media personality and a unabashed supporter of the incumbent SLP.
Usually the Speaker of the House is a more popular position. Everyone usually knows who the speaker of the house is and senate is a more obscure or rather lesser known position. Most people could tell you who the speaker of the house is and don't even know who the president of the senate is or if there is one. I cannot help but notice, this time around the situation is reversed. Claudius is definitely more colorful and outspoken than Mr. Foster as can be seen in this clip and previous clips.
