Your Kifaru Tipi comes without seam sealing. We provide the silicon, you provide the labor.

  • Ok, this tent is over $1k. Why should the purchaser be obligated to seal the seams?

You need to find a way to do this before shipping the product.

  • I am dismayed after seeing this video. There is no reason for a allegedly high quality manufacturer such as Kifaru, to require such a negligent and possibly dangerous endeavor to be conducted by the consumer. "it requires the tipi to be fully erected" that you cannot do it in your own facility due to size constraints yet expect the consumer to do so is unprofessional. Due to this clear lack of professionalism it makes myself and I am sure many others reconsider buying any of your products.

  • When you buy things that are 100% made in America they cost a lot. I wouldn't want to pay another $100 to have it come to me seam sealed. I will do it my self. Kifaru is Top notch quality!!

  • @weissisright

You make no sense. If it was "expedition" it would come fully seam taped.

ALL the top expedition tents come fully seam taped and is a LOT more labor intensive and more advanced material.

I absolutely agree. The materials are cheap and the time to sew a few panels is not much. For the extreme profit made on these tents they should "tape" seal these tents before shipping.

  • If you can't seal your own tent then you shouldn't be in the backcountry. I've sealed every tent I've owned, "factory sealed" or not.

  • I was gona order one today, dude that's not good that you guys expect the end consumer to finish the manufacture. I'm not ordering now.

  • I own a similar tipi tent by a different manufacture with the stove jack attached to the side of the tent. Using the sealing method described above is excellent! I use this method on all my tents and I can tell you - there is no tent that doesn't leak! They all need their seams sealed. After the silicone mixture cures after two days I use a small feather duster well powdered with baby powder that contains talc and put it on thick on all places where there is silicone to prevent sticking.

  • I was so so close to pulling the trigger on a late season pack and 4 man tipi stove setup. I'm starting to think that this company is super greedy, I know the packs are great but are extremely expensive, this 4 man small tipi tarp is so expensive you would think maggie comes with it as the cook. I really can't believe it's not sealed and ready to go. I'm certainly not buying the tipi and am considering not buying the pack just because of the greedy nature of the owner. My money now goes to MR.
