If you are going to be towing a trailer, using an enclosed cargo carrier with lights, or if you want to use an electrical accessory (such as lights, or a winch) you are going to need to add a wiring harness. This video will show how to install a wiring harness on a Chevy Express full size van. It also includes some helpful tips about installing the ground wire, using dielectric grease, and installing a bracket to hold the wires so they are protected from damage.

  • thanks for the vid - without seeing that green connector, i woulda been lost..

    To connect without using a kit, the connector I found for the hitch wires on my 2000 chevy Express van was on the passenger rear - it's the green connector. For my 4 wire flat hitch plug it was: all brown wires together (running lights/park) green (dark green on the chevy connector) to green and yellow to yellow. If you have trailer brakes that is a blue wire i believe on the van on the opposite side (driver side)
