Los Angeles Fire Department helicopters participated in Low Angle Rescue Training in the hills above Pacoima, CA. The Air Operations Section of the LAFD provided a demonstration/ training exercise on their hoist rescue operations. The scenario included a vehicle that went over the side of a road and into a ravine. Firefighters assisted by USAR companies and Heavy Rescue 56 utilized a two-line rope system to make access to the "victim", provide stabilization and patient packaging. An LAFD Bell 412 helicopter (pilot) lowered a highly trained Heli-tac crew member via their hoist to assist firefighters on the ground with patient packaging prior to the hoist.
