This is one of the earliest Folias written. it is categorized as the 1st type of folia. The 2nd type was developed by the 17th C French JB Lully and is the longest remembered musical theme in Western music.

This anonymousl folia is called the Folia di Rodrigo Martinez and was written in 1490. The piece has comical lyrics about a fool named Rodrigo Martinez, who mistakes geese for cows. Most believe that fool alluded to was the Portuguese King Don Sebastion who lost Portugal to Spain.

@anisometropie @anisometropie Sorry it took me so long to reply. I've been without a computer for a while. I was hit by a drunk driver. Snapped my neck at C4/C5. I'm now a tetraplegic (quadraplegic in the US) wheelchair jocky.

Accident aside, I couldn't hope for the bow to have a better home! I think you've now motivated me to see if I can find out who got my Viola, alto & tenor gambas, and my del Jesu viola d'amore.
