As a pastor, Bonnie Miller ministers to people facing a variety of problems.

So she knows a tremendous care-giver when she sees one—and she is impressed by the quiet confidence, professionalism, and effectiveness of Dr. Hiroya Nakamura and his staff.

Miller first came to see the doctor in March 2009. She had been in three car accidents in a recent three-year span, exacerbating pain that she first experienced as a 19-year-old, 27 years earlier.

While riding her bicycle 50 miles to the Botanical Gardens one sunny day, she was enjoying the scenery when her front tire hit a big pothole. The sudden jolt caused the bulging disk in her lower back to leak fluid into her spinal column. Within an hour of hitting the pothole, the pain in her back became unbearable.

On the 1-to-10 pain scale, with 10 being the most severe pain, Miller was at a level 8 before that first appointment.

At the time, it was all Miller could do to get to her full-time job as an administrative assistant at Schaumburg-based Navistar Financial Corporation, return home to prepare for ministry, and then climb into bed to rest.

She would then face the grim prospect of repeating the cycle of pain the next day.

After her first visit to Nakamura Chiropractic & Acupuncture, Millers pain level plummeted from 8 to 2—and then became a 1 after her next appointment.

The next appointment allowed Miller to be pain free for weeks at a time.

Miller is glad to be free of pain without any surgery or drugs, enjoying her day job and her ministry in the evenings and on weekends.

"I consider it my medical miracle that I can stand and walk without pain," said Miller. "I'm stunned. Dr. Nakamura continues to amaze me."
