I have been a huge fan of Musical Theatre for years. While I love the performance side of the production, it the backstage technical side of the theatre I love the most. While I have never seen a live performance of Legally Blonde (it closed before I got to NYC in DEC08), I just loved the overall style of this musical. The technical elements where the best I had seen in a musical for a number of years. I love David Rockwell work. All of the sets where handmade for cardboard, paper, plastic and other household items. All of the LED lighting (128 channels) are controlled by computer, using the Light O Rama software and programmed by myself. The soundtrack for the show is a combination of the soundtrack and also the live recording from MTV. It was thanks to MTV recording of the show that I got a real inside look into the show, but was also able to put my own spin on the sets. Im the only person operating the production. There are 16 flown sets, 9 truck lines, 1 lift and 25 individual sets pieces. The show has been a working progress over two years. I would love to get into production design, while I live in Sydney Australia, I hold a British passport and would either to move to London or NYC. If you would like to get in contact please drop me an email to jamesssydney@hotmail.com.

I hope you enjoy just the quick promo of Legally Blonde the Musical at the Ethel Merman Theatre Sydney.

Kind regards

James Stadnyk

  • @333omgitsme for the set pieces that move there is a track or devide in the false floor. inside is a piece of plastic attached to fishing line which can be pulled left or right to move the set.
