Inspired by a true story, the film explores the costs of teen pregnancy with a story of a fictional "pregnancy pact" set against the backdrop of actual news reports about teen pregnancy from June 2008. Sidney Bloom (Thora Birch), an online magazine journalist, returns to her hometown to investigate the sudden spike in teenage pregnancies at her old high school. Almost immediately, she comes up against Lorraine Dougan (Nancy Travis), the head of the local conservative values group and mother of Sara, a newly pregnant 15-year-old. Meanwhile, the school nurse (Camryn Manheim) tries to convince the school to provide contraception to students to address the pregnancy epidemic but is met with great opposition from the school and community. As the number of pregnant girls climbs to 18, a media firestorm erupts when Time Magazine reports that the rise in the number of pregnancies at the school is the result of a "pregnancy pact." As the mystery unfolds about whether or not "the pact" is real, Sidney soon realizes that all of the attention is disguising the much larger issues that are at the core of the story.

  • so many ppl are saying they hate the ending, and how it's mean of Jessie to leave Sarah at the end... but thats the point of the movie!!! It shows how getting pregnant at a young age never turns out to be what you want, and how life gets harder.

The comments really show how ppl grow up wanting a "happily ever after"-___- NEWS FLASH, doesn't always work that way!

  • although jessie deserves to hate her....you hafta admit that was kinda cold what he did at the end

  • Just wait until Jessie's family gets that bill for child support.

  • @discofairie

It feels normal to hate him. I mean look at wat he did. He left the girl he said he'd love "foreva", got another girl, oh and let's not forget, he abandoned the baby. But to his defense he was a normal 17 year old scared outta his mind for the reason y the baby came about. He did wat he only knew how to do. Howeva, it's kinda unfortunate that these girls thought it'd be great to get pregnant so young. The sad part is people still think this way. Even tho this was just a movie, we

  • The ending of this explains exactly what my best friend, my sister almost, is going through.Shes almost 6 months pregnant, and her boyfriend left her for some girl he used to date.I can understand why he left, but I'm still really mad.And I know whatever my sister decides to do with little Ana, she will have a wonderful life.I'm really proud to call Ana my god daughter.I can relate to this movie a lot.The ending didn't suck, it made a lot of sense actually. And it nearly brought me to tears.

  • I hate Jesse. To think he'd been a douche all along. He was more then just "kinda cold''.. he was a douche.

  • @JohnDaKing15 congrats

  • @emford- You were a teenager once ? People make mistakes, if you don't make mistakes you are not real or in reality.

  • @JohnTheKnightLord. Whoops, ran out of space. After watching this excellent movie, I have a new understanding of this all. Hopefully, our generation will learn and teach other generations against these mistakes. I cannot put into words my feelings about this movie. Very touching!

  • Well, I just spent two hours watching this on my iPod. I am 13 years old, and I attend a private school, that is, thankfully, free of pregnancy amongst the students. Though my school is clean, next year I will be in high school, and opened to the same challenges that Troy or Jessie faced. Thankfully, after watching this movie, I have a better understanding, mentally and spiritually about this subject. Before this movie, I didn't think much of pregnant teens beyond "they're sluts". After wa

  • Jessie better be taking care of that child by paying child support. After what she did she deserves him to hate her but he's just another guy who turns away. I thought he was better than that, but obviously he's just another dead beat dad.

  • sarahs baby was sooooooooooo cutee((:
