@trilobright It looks like an OK film, though 3.5 hours is a bit long, whatever era it comes from. I've never saw either of the two films that you've mentioned, nor do I care for any "megabudget summer blockbuster of the 21st Century"

Dude, it's the first feature length film ever made. I'm sorry that it's not as fast paced as the fucking Matrix or the Dark Knight, but I assure you that if you have any respect for the art of film making your time is better spent watching this than any megabudget summer blockbuster of the 21st Century.

I've just looked this up on IMDb & it lasts for 3 hours & 10 minutes. that's a large investment of my time

Remove the racist shit and this movie would still be pretty bad.
Watched this movie too many times to count as I own the DVD Watch BofN a few times and it starts to deteriorate as a story. I use the term "banal" to describe it. Griffith's later work like "Intolerance" and "Broken Blossoms" are much better.
Wanna see a great movie from 1915 go find "The Cheat" by a young DeMille. It's not the usual craptacular of his later years. Most film snobs agree The Cheat was ahead of it's time.
